What's the point of CC now?

I remember when I first started using e-mail, you could only put one e-mail
address in the To: field. Now you are able to put as many e-mail addresses as
you want in the To: field. So what is the point of "CC:", isn't this function
kind of redundant? Or am I missing something?

No, as you can direct an email to a person and send it to another person for
informational purposes. The second one should be on the CC line.

You were using e-mail over 30 years ago before when RFC-724 (obsoleted
by RFC-822) was ratified to provide Internet messaging standards and
where multiple addressees were permitted in the To header?
