....of devices, like Palm Tungsten C, or programs like PartitionMagic,
PGP, etc. writing drivers for Vista 64? I'm starting to get the
feeling that I may have selected incorrectly for an OS as far as
compatibility goes and the companies currently aren't offering any
info regarding the above. When they say they will be releasing
software soon or their current stuff is Vista compatible it usually
means for Vista 32. Thanks for your input

Vista 64 is more of a novelty than anything else. Supply & Demand will
dictate when drivers appear...

For 99.9% of folks there is no need to go 64...

Use Vista 64bit only if you have 64bit applications that are mission
critical to whatever you do.. there is virtually nothing to be gained from
running a 64bit OS and all 32bit apps..

Eventually everything will be 64 bit. How long this will take is anyone's
guess. Currently I'd recommend 32 bit Vista unless you need greater than 4
GB of RAM.

Only the manufacturers know and many are quiet on the subject.
The only thing people can do is write them and tell them of the need.

Additionally if/when another product comes out that meets that need,
contact the other and tell them what you bought from their competitor
and why.

Thanks for the answers guys. Unfortunately, I have already purchased
the 64bit version so going 32bit now is not possible. I bought that
one seeing as I have a 64bit CPU and motherboard and just, naively I
guess, assumed that this is the "wave of the future" like 32bit was
years ago. Jupiter, I will take your advice and email the various
companies that I own software/hardware with and have issues with and
indicate that I would like to them address this to try and spur them
on. Who knows? It may help hasten things a bit.

64bit is the future, but not for the average user yet.. until most 32bit
hardware is dead and buried, I can't see software other than operating
systems and 'industrial' stuff moving up a level.. for now, 32bit has
compatibility in its corner, and is less of a hassle for most of us.. Vista
is difficult enough in 32bit form for most to get working as users would
like.. 64bit just erects one more hurdle..
