What's the best way to send email Newsletters?

Can someone tell me what the best way to send email Newsletters is?

I want to send emails to addresses contained in a database for example.

Should I use a seperate program?

I've seen lots of programs out there - should I use any of these?
Which one is recommended?

What do I need to do for considerations when sending out email?
Like having a seperate bit for text only readers?

Any help would be appreciated.

Only you can decide what's best for you. If you have a full copy of Office,
you might start by trying out the mail merge feature in Word.

Outlook automatically produces plain text versions of HTML messages, but if
you want the plain text version to be substantially different from the HTML
version, that's a feature you'll need to seek out in a third-party tool.
