What the heck did I do to this Windows XP installation?

No autorun. Turns out this is a major problem with Windows XP. Microsoft
even has an autorun Fix program.

Of course you'll have to turn yourself blue in the face to get to that
download with the Micrsoft Genuine Advantage crap.

Then when trying to save the log in this (don't use it it is worthless) the
save in Notepad can't save the file. Get's error. But you know it is there
saved just as sweet as pie.

Crazy crazy crap.

This appears to be caused by other programs or device drivers
interfering with the autorun, at least in the Knowledge Base articles
that I can find. And it is apparently fully fixed in Service Pack 2.

Huh? One time only and takes maybe 30 seconds tops unless you have a
slow dial-up connection.

What log file are you talking about?
Crazy crazy crap.

Sounds more like user difficulties to me.

Good luck
