The only thing I'll say is....

- (800 x 600) with 1024 x 768 XGA compression

If you're going to connect this to a XGA laptop.....then the 'compression' feature tends to give rough results.
If you're going to connect this to a SVGA laptop then fine.

Jim,

There is no one projector that I would recommend for all situations. You
will first need to do some assessing of your situation (or situations the
projector will be needed for).

Lighting levels
Portability
Resolution
Noise level
Physical lay-out
Screen type (White/Gray -- Front/Back)

Then, you should do a lot of surfing to find a projector that meets *or
exceeds* your current needs. You will rarely become upset by having a
projector better than your need, but I guarantee you will be upset if it
does not.

There are a number of companies out there that can help you with this, most
are pretty reasonable and offer service contracts and set-up. This may be
critical if you have a last minute bulb burnout/repair.

The projector you mentioned will do fine in most general settings, but will
not do well in bright rooms (especially at longer distance throws or on
larger screens). I would also want a native 1024 x 768 screen resolution
(or better), but that is just me.

Panasonic PT-LC56 SVGA or PT-LC76 XGA is the besty buy for performance
and RELIABILITY. DLP projectors have poor color saturation and
sharpness and they eat too much lamp.
