what programs will Windows Vista run?

What kinds of currently-existing programs is Windows Vista expected to
run? I understand that it still a work in progress, so answers are
speculative.

(1) Will it run 32-bit programs for Windows 2000 and XP, especiall
Microsoft Office XP?

(2) Most of the programs I write are console (DOS-like in appearance,
but 32-bit Windows) programs. Will the binaries run in the Windows
Vista command line?

(3) Will batch files (.cmd or .bat) using the cmd.exe program run?

(4) Can Microsoft Visual C++ still be used on Windows Vista, at least
to create console programs?

Your inquiry is premature since Windows Vista is
still under development and has not even entered
the beta testing stage. The following articles may

Actually it is not a premature question.

At the time of his question Vista was being delivered or readied for
Beta 1 and is here now.

I am typing this from Vista in fact.

As for what application support, Office XP/2003 work fine so far, The
Sims 2 ( for entertainment ) works fine, Visual Studio .net 2003 and
2005 work...I have developed a quick hello world c++ app to verify for
you on question #4.

So far so good :)
