just recently, i upgrade my vaio pc computerthat originaly came with windows millenium, to windows xp professional. The problem is that i keep receiving messages saying thati need to input more memory in order for all the programs perform correctly. I went to the store to get more memory but once there , i was ask what kind of memory do i needed,(DDR,EER......and so.)right now my computer has 111 ram of memory, windows xp , need at least 128 rams, but they highly recomend to upgrade the memory to 192 rams.my question is , what kind of memory should i get, and, how many rams. i'll appreciate all suggestions, thanks :)

The kind of RAM you need is entirely dependent upon the specifications of
the motherboard used in your computer. Look at you manual and see what it
specifies.

The amount of RAM is your choice, but I would recommend 256 meg as a minimum
for a "good" computing experience - more if you are planning to tax your
computer by doing photo editing etc!

Get as much ram as you can afford. The type of motherboard you have will determine what type of ram to purchase. I have 640 mb of ram and all my programs run fine. XP is a memory hog.

Hi,

Use the wizard at www.crucial.com, and you may want to purchase it there as
well. I would recommend a minimum of 256MB, and 512MB for respectable
performance on more intensive programs.

I second the recommendation for at least 256 MB, but your
memory message is more likely to be virtual memory
allocation on the hard drive, rather than actual RAM
available.

If you don't have a manual for your computer, download a
program that will scan your computer and report the mobo
make and model. Then download the manual from the maker or
use a site like www.crucial.com to find the correct RAM.
Programs that will work for this Bel Arc Advisor
www.belarc.com or Everest Home
