What kills my SymantecAV and ZoneAlarm?

My Symantec LiveUpdate is killed immediately after popping up when started.
My ZoneAlarm doesn't start and can't even be installed any more after
uninstalling.
Something is killing them or preventing me to use them.
Services DefWatch Code 1067: Process was terminated unexpectedly) and
TrueVector will not start.
This happened after installing another program.
I have Win XP Pro, no virus according to Symantec web-scan service.
Symantec and Zone Labs Support information doesn't help.

All other programs work normally.

How can I get these working again?

You may have misunderstood Malke. The detailed instructions for
uninstalling ZoneAlarm are here: http://tinyurl.com/f5jl You have to do
more than just use Add/Remove programs to make certain that there are no
parts of ZA left behind.

"Defwatch" seems to be part of the Corporate Edition of Norton
AntiVirus. What version of Norton A/V do you have?

What makes you think your problem is related to administrator rights?
Do you get any messages besides the Symantec error code?
Notwithstanding your on-line scan, this really sounds like a virus.
Open Task Manager and see if you can identify all of the running processes.

Thank you for responding.
ZA support doesn't answer the problem.
They assume that the program can be started and the problem studied then.
The program cannot be started, it is killed after a second's popup.
After uninstalling it cannot be reinstalled anymore. I don't find anything
related to this there.
Symantec can be installed and it is obviously running at the background, but
all efforts of opening the console are killed in a second.
When logging in as a guest Symantec can be started, but no changes are
allowed.
The problem is related to the administrator's rights. When they are
involved, killing is a fact.

I'd first go to ZoneAlarm's website and look at their tech support
regarding uninstalling ZA. IIRC, there are (or were) quite a few issues
with uninstallation and to do it properly you had to hand-pick through
the registry. After your ZA is totally and completely uninstalled per
their instructions, does LU work now?

Thank you.
I have actually cleaned the registry, and done things ZA says, I think.
There is, however, quite a lot to see to, so I've better try once more.
Symantec has spotted the problem with rights and I have done the same with
AV, without any result.
Scanning my computer online with Symantecs web service, no virus is spotted.
I think I know what program caused this killing behaviour.
Anyone who wants to examine the file, an exe without extension, and no
virus, can test it:
