I just looked at a fresh install on a 40GB drive ...default was 1193MB

(I have mine set to 40mb)

Reduce its size. I usually reset to 25 meg or so.

As well, clear it regularly. I've had good results with ccleaner -
www.ccleaner.com . The MS cleanup tools are often ineffective.

IIRC, 10% of whatever your hard drive is. You can wind this down, and you
probably should if you don't do a disk cleanup regularly or have IE empty
temporary files on exit.

With Temporary Internet Files? No...Disk Cleanup is very effective, as is
going into Internet Explorer's advanced settings and telling it to empty
temporary files on exit.

It is not default size. Default size, is 50MB, it seems. Correct me if I
am wrong.

Given that I'm going from memory about IE from when I had to support it (God
knows *I* won't use such an underfeatured, buggy, insecure,
standards-broken piece of software if I can avoid it), I decided to
doublecheck for sure.

I just opened IE for the first time on my laptop (the only machine I have
that runs Windows) and the default appears to be 893MB on that, or just a
smidge over 3% of the total capacity of my laptop's hard drive. So I guess
we're both wrong...
