What is the "TextBridge" menu button used for?

Am using Microsoft Office Excel 2003.

I just pulled-up a worksheet that shows the subject menu button. I am not
familiar with this button. Therefore, what is its purpose? In what
circumstance would I need to use it?
 
It's from the scanner program textbridge. If you don't use it, delete it.
