What is the purpose of the "/s" switch in mmc.exe? For example, when I run
the Event Viewer the actual command shown by Sysinternals Process Explorer
is: 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\mmc.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\eventvwr.msc" /s'

I would venture that the Event Viewer is showing what probably happened
internally to preserve the quotation marks for when fed to cmd.exe though
Run or somesuch.

Cmd.exe has an /s switch that preserves the quotation marks so that the
argument doesn't get misread as separate switches.

This is just a guess.
