what is the difference between .ost and .pst files?

What is the difference between .ost and .pst files?

I know that .ost is the extension for offline folders/files and .pst is the
extension for personal folders/files.

According to the 'manual', they are both stored on the local harddrive.

Are they both available offline?

I'd say yes if they're stored on your harddrive which is available when
offline
