What is NAS? Is it a part of XP Home Edition 2002 SP3?

I do not have my computer set to share, access remotely or networked, but I
found that it is somehow connected with Zune and NAS.

From what I found on Microsoft website, my computer is Network Attached
Storage, which I did not add to my computer. How did this get attached to my
computer? I have noticed that SQL files are on my computer. What is it? I
looked through Microsoft's website and I am not computer literate to
understand what SQL does for my computer.

Any help is grateful.

A computer does not turn to be a NAS by it self, it has to be configured
specifically to serve files, and put on a Network..
SQL files, and parts of the SQL system can be found on many computers, This
files are used by variety of installed applications.
Having variety of files on your computer does not turn it into a NAS.
If you have a specific problem (some thing does not work well) then post
what the problem is.

Zune is a type or music player, similar to an 'mp3' player or iPod. Your
computer may have this software installed if it was connected to a Zune at
some time in the past.

A NAS is a box containing a hard-disk and a simplified computer, whose role
is to make the files on the hard-disk appear as a network share. You
typically connect tot he NAS withan Ethernet (8-pin phone-like jack) cable,
and access the files in 'My Network Places' - or any method applicable to
network shares.

The reason I wanted to know about what NAS and Zune were used for is that I
have noticed that when I click on:
1) My Network Places
2) View workgroup computers
i) I right-click on the computer icon that displays my computer name, it
displays a Properties dialog box with the following below my
computer name:
a) Comment: [My Computer Name]
b) Workgroup: MSHOME
c) Type: Windows Professional

For one thing, I have Windows XP Home Edition SP3 and NOT Windows
Professional.

I think I installed Zune before my computer crashed after installing NIS
2009. I had to reformat my computer and do a clean Windows install, which I
may have to do again.

Also, I cannot access a Limited Account User Profile because it says that I
am not networked and I need to contact a Network Administrator.

I am not networked other than through Internet connection. I am the Computer
Administrator and I have not installed any kind of network to my computer. My
computer is the only one connected to the Internet.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dee - Reference to NAS may be "generated" unintentionally - checkt he
following: My Network Places on left under "Network Tasks" - "add a Network
Place".

Regarding OS designation - SP3 "upgrades" Home Edition - for example if you
insert your Home XP cd and tried ot reinstall the OS a message would be
shown stating a newer version is currently installed. Under some
circumstances OS version is reported as XP Pro.

This opens Add A Network Wizard. I do not want my single computer networked
other than for internet purpose.

Somehow I found the following information on my computer somewhere (sorry I
cannot remember where I saw this information):
1) NTAuthority/(Shared Network)
Password: ****************
Confirm Password: ****************

What is this? Does this mean my computer's file is shared on a shared network?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
