What is IndigoRose, Suf60, etc?

I recently had those items (and some other unusual things) appear on my
computer in a strange way. I looked at my ZoneAlarm list of programs, and
there they were! I didn't install nor run it/them, and have no idea where
they came from.

Apparently something got installed and run, gaining ZoneAlarm's permission
to access the internet, without my knowledge.

I deleted everything from ZoneAlarm, and can't find anything on my computer
with those names. I've also done a complete & thorough scan with Avast
anti-virus, Spybot-S&D, a2, and Ad-Aware, and they don't find anything.

My best guess is some website I visited laid a hijacker egg in my TIF which
somehow got activated and then knew how to get automatic permission from
ZoneAlarm to access the internet. Hopefully it's gone now, but I wouldn't
bet on it.

Anybody else have such a strange experience?

| P.S. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving's not for you.

Assuming you have Yesterday's definition file, it is up-to-date.

Google search on "indigorose suf60" shows it's the "Setup Factory" from the
software installer produced by the company IndigoRose. See
http://www.indigorose.com/products/index.php

More searching shows it's used for products such as "midi man sport 2x2",
so this may be leftovers from a valid install of another product, previously
installed.

This Compaq was loaded with games, game channels, backweb, office and money
stuff, etc etc etc after a fresh install of the op system from their OEM XP
Home CDs, which I just did again in Dec'04 on a new HD. I've uninstalled all
the junk I could find, but not everything uninstalled clean. Also there
could have been an advertising "timebomb" set to appear X days after
installation of the op system, which is the sort of thing Compaq would do.
That's my best guess. If so, I still don't understand how it could have
obtained permission from ZoneAlarm to access the internet, except... I've
noticed in the past that some programs appear in ZA automatically with
permission already granted (I'm not asked). I check the ZA list frequently
for that reason.

It's good to remember, that anything the user can do with the keyboard & mouse,
malware can do too. There is no way, for the receiving program to determine whether
it's input came from the real keyboard, or from another program.

Also, if the file formats are well known, malware can alter
the "permission" files directly.
