What is "Could not complete oper. Parameter values are not valid"?

When trying to use Outlook for the first time, I've found I am unable to
enter any information. Everytime I have tried I get a message that states,
"Could not save item. Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter
values are not valid." I am presently using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.
