I just finished updating my XP softwae...and now I have a
welcome page that lists me...and as a 2nd user ASP.net.
What is this??? Also is there any way I can start my
computer with an automatic default to me...where I do not
have to check me to sign in each time.

Hi

I have the same problem after installing the Net Framework download. I
tried your fix, and it did not work on my machine. It used to boot up
directly, but now it stops on the Welcome screen where there is now one User
(me.) There are three accounts on the "User Accounts" page in the Control
Panel (me, Asp.Net Machine, and Guest [which is turned off.] And on the
page accessed by the other "User Accounts" Page accessed by your method,
there are four, the extra one is just entitled Administrator. I tried
changing the ASPNET entry to Guest (since turning the Guest account off
allowed a direct boot-up/logon before this recent download) but that didn't
make any difference. Would it be unwise to just delete this account? From
what little I have read about ASPNET it doesn't seem that it needs its own
account.

Thanks

I personally don't know what the results of it would be. My machine has
always been password protected, so it didn't matter.

In the CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 application, once you uncheck Users must enter
a username and password, and click Apply, you're prompted for the username
and password that you want automatically logged on. Enter the username, and
password if any. It works flawlessly for many other users.

Click Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 Uncheck the box, Users
must enter a username and password........ Click Apply and provide the
requested information. The ASP.net account was created when you installed
the .NET framework from Windows Update, and is normal. It usually doesn't
show up on the Welcome screen though.
