What is an AppleTalk Protocol?

It would be helpful if I had a clue what this was - is it related to printer
drivers? For those who didn't read my earlier post, an "AppleTalk Protocol"
is preventing me from upgrading from Win 2000 to XP.

It is a networking protocol
Used by Apple, supported by Microsoft in most OS's.
