-Hello,

I keeping getting an error message each time I try to access some of my
files saying I don't have up-to-date version of ADODB installed on my
computer. Near as I can tell from running the updater for Windows XP
everything is up to date.

Can any one help me with this and explain what ADODB files are and what they
are used for? How do I up date them?

ADOdb Database Abstraction Library for PHP (and Python).

Hi Knight,
1→ "Read this from MS article about ADODB"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/870669

2→ Are you runing an Up2Date Anti-Virus and Anti-spyware on your computer
as it could be a Viral program (which I can't see why asking you politely to
update?) just be sure scan for Malware.
3→ Do a System Restore for an earlier date when things was working Ok.
=Also as Tom mentioned it was been linked to PHP but I can't see that unless
you are having Python/Appache Server or program runing on your computer.

4→ Please write back with more info on what File/App when you want to open
Producing this Error or look in the Event Viewer for or Info.
HTH.

Thank you nass and Tom for your replies.

This error message comes up when I am attempting to acess a program called
Orwell on my computer. therefore I do not think it is a server side issue.

The exact error message I get is:

Missing or Outdated File

It appears that you do not have an up-to-date version of ADODB installed.
Please contact support for assistance.

Since I am the owner of the computer and am signed in as administrator I do
not understand why I am getting this message.

The anti-spy and anti-virus are both up to date. A spyware check has been
run as well to insure there isn't any malware onboard. All checks come up
clean.

Not sure how to look in Event Viewer or Info to see what is going on.

Thanks,

ShadowKnight

Yes, I have tried Orwell support and according to them it is an issue with my
system. They sent me a couple of files to update the ADODB on my system but
when I attempted to install them I got a message stating that the files on my
system were newer than the ones I was trying to update with.

Hi Knight,
If you have the software you can uninstall it and reinstall it again, then
connect to the Internet and Get the Updates, if you don't have the software
and I assume this the software you can download it from here:
http://www.orwellpro.com/free-software.html
If the above is *off Topic* then Try System Restore to an Earlier Date to
get back to shape.
Or Run this command by opening Run Command:
Run → [sfc /scannow ] Click [OK] and wait for it to finish and get
both your XP CD and Orwell CD to hand in if it ask you for it because it did
find corrupt file or missing one.
I think the File may damaged and still on the HDD and when you want to
install the one you get from the Help&support the system read the present
version which updated with the software and reject the files which sent by
the Help&support .
You can look for them on your HDD and delete them then you can add the one
sent to you or just Ignore the message and replace them anyway.
→ On how to access Event Viewer try this : RUN Command → eventvwr click
[OK] and you are on Event Viwer window;
[*] Event Viewer (local user)
Application click on each to see if there are any Error Messages
Security then Double click (X) Error2001 to get more Info
System on the Application
HTH.
Please let us know and goog luck.

nass

Force the update! Delete and copy the known good files by hand if
necessary. Corrupt file or malware may be involved.
