What in the hell .............. ?

Just re-installed XP Pro - but now, my fonts lack boldness and smoothness,
particularly in Outlook Express (default fonts) and IE.
Running DX9 and a Radeon 9700 Pro with 3.5 drivers and 17" Iiyama flat
panel.
Basically, everything's as it was pre-reinstall.
Tried Clear/Standard/No font smoothing, large/small Windows fonts.
Can anybody enlighten me ..........PLEEEASE !

You also need to install the drivers for your LCD monitor.
Visit the manufacturer's support website to obtain the drivers.

Last, by not least, visit the following website:

Microsoft ClearType

(click on "ClearType Tuner Updated")

Not sure what you meant here. Did you try Display Properties | Appearance |
Effects..., and then select Clear Type in the second box and check the box
in front of it? Maybe that's what you meant, but...

Woh ..... sorted it!
Needed to font-smooth with Cleartype AFTER loading monitor drivers.
