What if an OEM goes bankrupt

What do I do when i`m fixing a hard drive failed PC if the PC runs OEM
windows and the OEM only supplied those crappy restore disks that
activate a hidden partition on your computer?

Did the failure occur within the warranty period provided by the OEM?

If so then you might repeat might get a sympathetic hearing from
Microsoft. But you would have to contact them direct.

Other than that the owner of the PC is probably out of luck.

Why, then you give yourself a swift kick for not asking for the
Windows CD when you bought the machine!

You would need to contact hp, IF the warranty was still in effect.

Agreed. I've always found them to be quite reasonable in many different
types of situations.

Yep. A couple of years ago I had a fire which destroyed much of my
software. MS replaced my XP Pro with no hassels. Just cost me
shipping and handling.
