What happens to Autorecover files

Hi,
Does anyone know what happens to autorecover files after
you have saved?
I did a save as over an existing file and would like to
get the original (existing) file back. I do have
PowerPoint 2000 running autorecovery. Please help.

Unfortunately, the autorecover files aren't going to help there, Dennis.
They're just temporary files PPT uses if it crashes so you can recover
what you were working on at that time.

You can check your temporary file folders and *.TMP files, though. You
may get lucky and find something useful there. See
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00108.htm for what to do with those
files.

But don't count on being able to get that original file back. Once
you've saved over it, it's gone for all intents and purposes.
