If you have AutoCorrect set up to replace "Straight quotes" with “Smart
quotesâ€, the quotes are converted to correctly formatted quotation marks.
However, different languages use different quotations marks. For example, «
» are used in French.
Therefore, check the spelling language of the text. Maybe it has been set to
the wrong language.

guillemets for quotation marks).
