What does is mean when I see a "+" beginning a formula. =+j2-g4/(h4). What
does the "+" do?
 
It does nothing. It means that the author of the formula has forgotten that
he is using Excel, and not an old Lotus spreadsheet.
 
Absolutely nothing, now. It's a leftover from earlier programming languages
(or older programmers!) when you had to include the sign (such as in Lotus
notes). In XL, indicating a positive number with a plus sign is just an extra
step, it serves no real function now.
