What does HD2ISO produce?

What does hd2iso produce. I know the obvious answer is an iso.
But why can't I view any files or directory structure if I mount
this iso using something like daemon tools or env as loop back
device in linux or just burning the iso to cd and loading the
the cd? Is this by design?

Hi Black,

You need El-torito driver to be able to see content of that CD.
Data are written as pure HDD image on CD in special section that is not seen by CDFS.
Basically for more information's about El-torito you can read el-torito specifications that are freely available.
