I just replaced my CD drive with a CD burner and I find that the Nero
software I happen to have is locked to another brand of CD burner so
I'm in the market for burning software. What are my choices?

Cheap is good. I've never heard of open source burning software.

FWIW, the drive happens to be an HP model and it's an XP system.

Thanks

Nero retail is always good. So is Roxio Easy CD/DVD Creator

You can always go to the store and buy burning software. An alternative is
this excellent free one:

CDBurnerXP Pro 3

Al;

I downloaded it from the internet 3 weeks ago to overcome a poorly
functioning XP-Home burner and it has done the job nicely on 4 jobs I
gave it in creating docs & sets backups for an "emachines" OEM.

It is Free.

Thanks. It's working for me, too.
