What can I do to save updates.

Ok here is a few scenarios in windows XP as weall as 2000 I want to
save updates to CD so when I reinstall I
don't have to download from the update site,

I would also like to create an image of and updated windows and save
it to DVD for easy instsall

Also is there a way to run windows live like you can wioth linux

I appreciate any ideas

No you can't save preinstalled downloaded auto updates but you can download updates and
burn to CD for later use-

Security updates are available on ISO-9660 CD image files from the Microsoft Download
Center

You can also download individual updates from the Catalog and save to be installed later.
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what you want, Click
the "Go To Download Basket" link. Type in or browse to the location where you want the
updates saved to and then Click the "Download Now" button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

Providing there are releases for that month, you will see the list of "critical"

A better way is to slipstream the updates into a new Windows 2000 or XP cd
using slipstreaming software like nLite:

That gives you a Windows 2000 or XP installation cd that installs the OS
right up to date.

bootable slipstream option for 2000 and with the service pack 2
