What are these numerous .PRX files

in my Windows Folder?

XP thinks these are Windows Media Profiles. But these cannot be opened by
any application. Nor can they be viewed by Notepad.

These are dated 5/16/2001

Can I safely delete these?

PRX files are Compiled programs from Microsoft FoxPro. If you dont know
what FoxPro is, chances are you dont need them.

You can look up extensions here. http://www.filext.com/

A prx file is a Windows Media Encoder Profile which is used to load encoding
schemes. Several programs make use of prx files including Movie Maker and
the Windows Media Encoder (WME) . You would usually only have a couple of
prx files within your Windows directory and most likely these additional prx
files have been installed by a third party program/s, I would suggest
leaving them alone unless you are certain they are not required.

The most recent one can be opened by double clicking. It opens in Windows
Media Profile Editor.

All others give an error msg like "Profile is invalid" or "Parameter is
incorrect".

I looked for other files dated 5/16/2001 but could not find any more on my
system.

It's puzzling, but I'm leaving these alone.
