What are the "dot" and "grid" in the design view of Acces?

The "Design Grid" is the series of dots that show up in the background of a
form or report that has been opened in Design View. This grid allows for
easy placement of the controls when in Design View. If you right click the
background of the report in design view, one of the options on the popup
menu will be grid. If you click this option you can turn the grid on and
off. This will give you a good idea of what the grid is because it will make
it obvious when it disappears and reappears as you click this option. On the
Format tab of the report's Properties dialog you will see a "Grid X" and
"Grid Y" option. This will control the number of dots per inch or centimeter
that the grid has.
