What are the binary files that run firewall? I want to copy them to
the Windows directory, instead of reinstalling Windows xp.

In both the Control Panel and the Security Center, , the firewall
panel won't start at all. It says "Due to anunidentified problem,
Windows cannot display Windows firewall properties".

"Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall
settings" error, try:

Start>Run regsvr32 hnetcfg.dll [enter]

You can't reinstall Windows Firewall that way, and the way you phrased this
question makes it exceptionally difficult to figure out what it is you're
*really* trying to fix here. Don't assume you know the answer when asking
for help: Let the group solve for the answer and pitch the group the
question.

Here's a good starting
point...

I solved this problem by running a script that I got from somewhere
else. It adds some registry keys and that solves the problem. I can
now open the firewall applet in the control panel.

But now there is another problem. Inside the Services panel, when I
clicked the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing(ICS)
service, it pops up this message "Configuration Mamager: The specified
device instance does not correspond to a present device", before
opening the properties panel. What could be the problem?

Thanks.
