Office 2003
XP Pro SP3
I have rebuilt my PC and want to reinstate the Word and Office setup I used
previously. What initialisation files should I restore from backup? I
restored outlook.pst to get my contacts.

You should at least replace the original normal template (normal.dot).
Some settings are stored in the registry so unless you saved the registry
keys in question you will have to rebuild those manually.
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/FilesToBackup.htm should give you a few
ideas about what else you may need to restore.

Thank you for your reply. I am amazed that MS make it so difficult. What
where they thinking about... ?

Well they do include a 'Save my settings wizard' in Office tools, but it
will be of no use to you now that you have already replaced the operating
system.
