I am efforting to hook up my sons computer to my wireless router and I can
not locate my wep or network key, where can I find it in my computer?

Set the WEP code type to 'ascii' and then construct a 13 character string..
upper and lower case plus numerics.. make a note and keep it safe
somewhere..

interestingly, when setting up a new Wireless network on my laptop with XP
SP2 there *is* no faciltity for using ascii - the *only* option available
is hex.....

In the last three months, I set two laptops up as described.. not sure why
you don't have the option..

No I don't know either - the way it came about was this. A colleague of mine
changed from AOL to BT broadband. BT supplied a wireless router pre-set
with an ascii wep key. Putting the ascii key into the wireless network
settings on his pc didn't work. It saw the wireless network but would never
connect properly. Took my laptop there, set up a new network on it, no
option for ascii wep key. Changed the router to a hex wep key, everything
worked perfectly! Weird, huh?

If you have not done so already, connect to your router and set the WEP
code in there. Different routers have different setup methods, but the
usual method is to point your browser at it.

Cheers,

Cliff
