Weird problem with copy/paste

Hi,

I reinstalled one of my user's computer yesterday with an image we've been
using for years.

The image is Win2k SP3 and it was updated a few months ago to include IE6
SP1.

But the person has a problem with copy/paste with files and folders. We
right-click on a file, press copy, right-click somewhere (desktop, C: drive,
whatever) and choose PASTE, it doesn't work. We don't get any error message
or anything, it just plain doesn't work.

We've tried with both a user account and an administrative account, to no
avail.

Copy/paste works fine in Notepad, which would indicate that the clipboard is
fine.

I have to try to reinstall IE6SP1, but other than that, have any of you
encountered that kind of problem ?

I also scanned the computer for Blaster because I think users that were
infected by Blaster, but it's not there. The user has an AV software
installed, but it was installed after the first boot (but we're on a
corporate LAN with antiviruses everywhere, so I can pretty much rule out a
virus issue but I'll scan it at lunch time for peace of mind)

So, anyone can help ?

I'll be happy to provide more details if needed.

Thanks,

Mathieu Paquette

I have the same problem on 2 systems. The clipboard viewer does list the
copied item but it will not paste.

I have also discovered a few other issues that are probably related. Drag
does not work either. If I Left click or right click drag it does not work. I
think it could be an issue with dialog boxes not appearing. If I open
Computer Management and then try to view an Event viewer entry nothing
appears. When I try to close Computer Management a message appears telling me
to close all Property pages. So it thinks that the property pages are open
but I can not view them.

I booted to safe mode and I also removed the Video driver but still had the
same problem.

I performed a complete virus scan. These system are used for development and
do not have internet access.

I'm thinking about rebuilding the systems.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
