Weird permissions problem

I have a Windows 2003 server running exchange 2003, a snap appliance
4200 for a file server. One of the users has complained that documents
in a particular folder are showing up as read-only even though the
properties page only shows the archive box ticked.

Whe I look at the permissions there a user icon with a ? over it and
theusername is simply "Account Unknown" and in brackets after that lots
of numbers. If I try to delete the user it simply comes back again.

We are using Word 2003 for our documents.

No answer for you but I've seen that too and don't have exchange, so it's
probably eliminated from enquiries
