Weird LAN Event

M. T

Over this past weekend, I changed our netmask from
255.255.255.0 to 255.255.240.0. Now on a few DHCP XP
Pro. (within a domain) client machines, after x amount of
hours, when they attempt to logon to a shared resource
they are prompted for a username/password. And EVEN THE
DOMAIN ADMIN. account will nto let them in. But yet I
can still ping the machines IP and/or computername. And
if I logoff and log back on (not shut down) the LAN
resources are restored...???????

This is only happening on a few XP pro. boxes and not on
others. As well not on 2000 boxes.

Thank's in advance

Would that work. I would have thought you could only use (amongst other
combinations) 255.255.0.0 or 255.255.255.0. Others I can think of are
255.0.0.0 and don't know about 0.0.0.0

255.0.0.0 (Class A), 255.255.0.0 (Class B), and 255.255.255.0 (Class
C) are certainly the most widely used subnet masks, Jason. However,
the subnet mask can be other values consisting of a group of 1's
followed by a group of 0's, as described here:
