Weird Issue with Office 2003 Pro in build 5600

So I've installed Office 2003 pro in Vista 5600. After install when I launch
any program, the Office installer lauches and it goes through a setup
process, which at times is lengthy. This happens every time I open an Office
App. Outlook is brutal, becasue anything I do like sending a message or
adding a message to junk mail folder causes the Office installer to launch.
I've reinstalled several times. I've partial install, complete installs and
so on. Outlook won't recognize Word as my email editor, and Vista is trying
to open .doc files with Wordpad. I've also patched Office to no avail. What
the heck is going on?

Have you installed the latest service pack for Office 2003? There might be
incompatibility issues which the version of Windows Installer used by Office
2003. Also, try using the Windows Installer Clean up utility to see if it
corrects the issue.

I did install Office SP2, but after the install not a slipstream. Thanks for
the link, I'll give that a try.
