WEEKNUM for financial year

Sue Pixton

Is it possible to make the weeknum function recognise the
Australian financial year running from 1st July to 30th
June? I need the week starting 1st July to be week 1

Hi Sue!

Easy to ask but there's are different algorithms for weeknumbering.

July 1 this year was a Tuesday.

When, according to your algorithm will Week 2 start? Four choices

July 8th (the following Tuesday) Simple weeknumber
July 6th (the following Sunday) Same as Option 1 of WEEKNUM
July 7th (the following Sunday) Same as Option 2 of WEEKNUM

Or:
Week 1 starts on the first week starting on a Monday that the first
Thursday occurs in in this case Week 1 would start on June 30th. This
would be equivalent to ISO8601:2000 and would ensure there are no
weeks that have less than seven days at either end of the year.

Sorry, didn't make myself clear. I want week 1 to start on
Sunday June 29, 2003, therefore week 2 will start Sunday,
July 6

I managed to get it to work by using
=WEEKNUM(B10,1)-26
(B10 being the cell containing the date 29/06/2003)

Thanks for your advice.
