Any suggestions for s/ware that can capture timed stills/video. would also
be nice if it supported motion detection and FTP upload to a website.

Pryme is one such program. Widely available 'out there'.

My fave is VISIONGS. I use it for streaming, but I believe it can do what
you need, also.
