Web site security

I am new to creating a web site. I made one with Word 2003 and uploaded it
with Internet Explorer. It looked fine.
However, I later discovered that when looking at the website online with
Explorer, someone can rightclick and the option is given on the drop-down
menu to "view source". When that is selected, the source code is displayed
in Notepad, and it can be changed and saved to my website. Evidently anyone
looking at my page could do this. Is there a way to protect my site against
this happening?

The View Source is normal for all web sites.
If they can change the notepad text and it saves the changes to your web
site, you need to contact your web host to have them make sure the site has
been secured so no one without the proper permissions and credentials can
make changes.

This is not a Word issue.

Unless your or your host has made an error in coniguration?
Youe mistaken about being allowed to edit files!
I'd suggest you attempt editing from a machine other than your own and
from a different internet provider to verify this possibility.

View source is available in all browsers and by all visitors (some
webmasters attempt to obscure with java which only tricks a few) and does
not allow access to SAVE to pasword accessed websites with on a Windows or
Apache server.
The visitor may save the edited file to their own local machine.

You really need to read up on some beginning basics of websites.

Here are some beginner links.
