Web Page Tabs will not update

Microsoft 2002, Win XP Pro SP3

I created a site using shared borders. I read that shouldn't be done but I
had problems with the frames page setup. When I opened the site, all my sub
pages had two copies of the frames next to each other on the same side so I
tried shared borders. I also have problems with the web page tabs not
displaying the proper names.

So 2 problems:

1. When I used frames, what did I screw up that caused the frame
(navigation)page to display twice on my sub pages. I setup index.html -->
frames.html --> myhomepage.html ---> subpages all on same level.

I never got that double display to clear up so I went to shared borders.

I also remember, every time I went to save the page after the frames were
applied, it would give me two save dialogues. One for the page (I had a
photo gallery on it), then another save right after that one for the entire
page with the frame. It was very confusing to keep track of all the pages it
created. I had a frames.htm pictures.htm totalpage.htm for every single page
I tried to create. Did I totally do that wrong?

2. Now using shared borders, the web page tabs (IE 7) will show the correct
name for index.html (configured on page properties to show "mynameweb"), no
shared border. It will also show the correct names for my home page (also no
shared border). But when I click on my first subpage the browser tab (now
looking at the finished site) it retains that page's name no matter what
other page I click on. Even if I go back up to the index page. The tab name
stays the same after that one subpage. I've updated all the page names in
the page properties boxes and still the same behavior.

That one page's name gets stuck on the browsers tab and will not update at
all.

Totally answered my own question.

Played with Frontpage a little more and figured out my mistake. I removed
the shared borders and went back to using frame pages. Or I should say - a
frame page. My mistake was creating multiple frame pages with the same
initial left side frame (link frame.htm) which contained links pointing to
the combined page (left side frame (links) + content page frame). Doing this
multiple times for every page I created resulted in a sort of mirror effect
causing a double display of the frame page. I fixed my mistake by creating 1
frame page, setting the left side "intitial page to display" to my links
content page and the main page to each content page.

This probably sounds like a dumb mistake to anybody who knows anything but
this was my first time using Frontpage. I hope this at least helps anyone
who happens to make a similar mistake.

Once I got this figured out I also fixed my page naming problem. The web
tab displays the name of each page within the hierarchy. The name of the
first frame page (where you start navigating the web site) becomes the name

FYI: Frames are worst then using Shared Borders. Users can not bookmark your page content, search
engines will index your content outside of the frameset and number of other issues.

Thanks. I saw some info on that. I just tried bookmarking my site and had
problems. The first content page bookmarks ok but any other page bookmarked
led back to the home page. Weird. Guess I'll go back and republish using
Shared Borders.

I also read something on using server side inclusions being a new technique.
I want to drop Front Page but I'm only setting up a private site for a
family intranet to share photos so I don't want to spend cash on something so
small. Any more tips and advice are greatly appreciated.

Look into using the FrontPage Include Page Component, which is much better then using Shared
Borders.

Could you tell me how to do that or point me to a URL. I tried that with my
photo gallery page and the links page I tried to include only displays on top
of the pictures. I want to include it on the left like a navigation pane /
shared border.

I read something about using a table to make it work but the table does the
same thing. Only shows up on top. Thanks for the help.
