I've designed a BEAUTIFUL web page in Word 2007. But when I view it in
Internet Explorer, those darned little xboxes appear instead of my
graphical elements ie. pictures, clip art, and fancy borders.

Those "little xboxes appear" are invalid file paths.

1) Create a folder structure on your local machine that duplicates the
folder structure of your website.
2) Create your web page from within those structured folders (i. e.,
directories)
3) assign you image paths as "relative" links within those structured
folders (not attempting to link to "My Documents" or any other folder
outside of the structure.
4) Upload your images and web page (s) from the corresponding folders.

All the above are basic web issues.
