I have my own Website www.jjames.com with an email server mail.jjames.com and
run Mozilla as my email programme.
I recently upgraded to XP Pro.
1. When I first upgraded I could not opperate my email programme ( Mozilla)
or even Outlook Express, so I used my web based email programme, this was not
satisfactory.
2. I was advised to reload XP over the top of the old version.
Since the upgrade I have gone from bad to worse, then although I can logon
to other URL's I cannot log onto mine. (so no web based emails iether.)
3. I have tried pinging my URL and mail server with no success.
4. I have run a lost winsock programme and that has not fixed the problem

I have checked other machines, even the one at work and I have no trouble
with emails or logging onto my own URL.

My experience (a few dozen xp installs) has been that installing it over
itself or over another version most always produces problems. A bloated,
slow system is my most common result.

Try a 'clean' install of XP and see what happens.

Have you contacted your web host and asked if they can detect any problems
with your email account/access?

Yes I have contacted my web host and he assures me no problem at his end.
Do I just delete my existing version of XP and start again.

Save/backup all your important files first!!

Set your BIOS to boot to disk first. Insert your XP disk, Turn Off your
computer, turn it back on and follow the instructions to do a format and
install - NOT a repair.

Is this a reformat of my total disk and I will have to reload all my other
programmes, or do I only have to backup my documents.
