web address bar missing

i have somehow lost the bar that lets me type in the web
address. the only way i can get to web sites is if i find
it in the search, because i can't type in the actual
address. can someone tell me how to get that bar back.
i've already tried going to view, then toolbar, and then
choosing address bar. i get a square that says address on
it in the toolbar, but i cant do anything with it. thanks
for the help.

Right click the toolbars and make sure Lock Toolbars is not checked.
Then drag the word "Address" down to its own line.
