a web trawl tells me I need to update my bios, already done
error report suggests I remove recent hardware, I did
repair does not find a problem
support does not list wdf files

intermittent fault, causing failed boot,
taken to leaving vista cd in drive

Hello,

1. Update your BIOS from the manufacturers website
2. When your PC restarts hit Del to enter your BIOS settings, I was able to
load optimised defaults on the Standard CMOS and the advanced BIOS,
the only thing i changed was the order in which the devices booted (I don't
think this will be necessary for the majority of you.
3. When you save the new settings enter Windows XP and restart the Vista
installation process.
4. You should be running through Vista in roughly 15 minutes!!!!
