Way too many steps in registering Powerpoint

I've never seen so many steps required in registering a software product.
This would deter me from considering future products. Even trying to send a
comment to MS is very too involved.

Yes.

But while you need to activate PowerPoint in order to use it fully, you
don't really need to register it if you don't want to. They do mention on
the screen that it's optional.
