I am going to reinstall XP and all of my programs and configurations. Is
there a way to ghost the computer aftereards, so that if anything happens to
the computer, I can restore everything including the programs and
configurations easily?

Thanks.

Not without third party imaging software. XP has only the Backup application
and F.A.S.T. [Files and Settings Transfer].
Imaging is the best way to go.

It is like a standard backup application that copies the selected files to a
recording media. This can be floppies, tape, CDRW or DVDRW. It is best for
backing up a specific application data base, not for restoring a working
replica of a tweaked and applications applied partition/s.
