Way to create domain profiles without logging into the Domain?

Hi,

I am trying to automate some setup functions, but I am running into a bit of
a problem. We are a pathology lab and our pathologists rotate offices
weekly, therefore they use multiple machines. So I need to have every
pathologist pre-configured in every office so that when a pathologist logs
in, they can get right to work. Roaming profiles will not work in this case
because a lot of the offices are in different hospitals, so they're not a
part of our local network. All machines are Windows 2000, by the way.

Anyways, what I have done is I have completely configured one machine with
all of the pathologists' logins and everything they need in each of their
profiles. I would like to just go to another machine, login as admin, and
paste these pre-configured profiles into the Documents and Settings folder
and be done. But it doesn't work that way. If I put a pathologist's profile
in the Docs & Settings folder, then login as that pathologist, it will create
a new profile for that pathologist and add a ".<domain-name>" after it or
something else, but it won't just take the profile that's already there.

Now, if I login as that pathologist first (before putting the pre-configured
profile in), it will create the profile with the same name that I created the
profile with. Then I can logout, log back in as admin, rename or delete the
newly created profile, then paste the profile I created in it's place, I can
then logout of admin, log back in as the pathologist and all of the
pre-configured settings are there.

The problem is, I don't want to have to login to every machine as every
pathologist, then still have to go in and delete their profiles and put in
the ones that I configured. I really hope there's an easier way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hyabasa,

You can do that manual paste, but then things will get out of sync and your
users will complain. The way to handle this is to use Roaming Profiles!!
What you'll want to do is use DFS to replicate your profiles between servers
so that they're in sync and available.
