Watermark overheads in PDf and print jobs

Word 2003
I have a watermark in my documents inserted using the Format > Background >
Printed Watermark option.
The watermark doubles the size of PDFs and increases the size of the spooled
print job on a network printer enormously. A 1mb PDf or a 500 kb Word file
shows on the print queue in excess of 50 MB. The print job is incredibly
slow.

Can I control this in any way?

Currently i am printing draft documents for review and have to distribute
the printed copies without the watermark which is not desirable or
convenient.

Hi robert,
try to disable semitransparent option in the watermark setting.
PDF have sometimes problems with transparent
Good luck

Thanks Margit!

This is a great help!
PDF file sizes are now way down, printing is back to normal and I get to
keep the watermark!
