Watermark causes black bar in Word

We use Groupwise 6.0 and Office 2002. When a word attachment is opened with
a watermark in it, a black bar covers the bottom of each page above the
margin for about an inch and a half. Once the doc is opened and watermark is
deselected it disappears. If the doc is saved the bar remains when the
watermark is active. Groupwise quickview doesn't show the black bar. This
is only on one users machine and I have reinstalled Office and deleted
Normal.dot.

The white page suggested doesn't answer the problem. There is no typing
involved. The bar appears when the page is opened. All the suggested
settings are OK. Any other suggestions?
