Warning! n-CASE has been removed....

My daughter is away at college and hooked up to their
network. She is running Windows XP Prof. and is having
problems with her internet connections. She has just
started receiving a message on startup: Warning! n-CASE
has been removed, possibly by a third party without your
approval...to restore n-CASE, she needs to be on-line, but
she can'tget online! Also, when she moves her cursor to
the task bar at the bottom of the screen, it turns into an
hour-glass,and programs open very slowly. What is n-CASE?
Could it be causing this? How can she fix this?

Thank you.

It's a comparison shopping engine which MAY have been installed by Alexa.
She may need to run a good ad/spyware removal tool such as Ad-Aware or
Spybot :)

N-Case is adware. Go to www.google.com and do a search on n-case. You can
get rid of it with Ad-Aware which is free. Do a Google search for Ad-Aware
also.

Greetings --

n-Case is a form of spyware. Two products that are quite
effective at finding and removing such scumware are Ad-Aware from
www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search and Destroy from
http://security.kolla.de/. Both have free evaluation versions.
