How do I create a macro that automatically provides a warning message when
the user opens the form.

If you create a macro new macro through access, then there is a msgbox option
in macro builder drop down menu.
Once you write your macro.
you can apply the macro to on open event of the form.
 
1. create a macro that opens a message box, 2. attach that macro to the on
open event on the form
